About

Fulcrum3D designs and manufactures remote sensing hardware and software for solar and wind energy, including CloudCAM camera-based PV cloud-forecasting, compact-beam Sodar wind monitoring, and weather/resource systems.

Mission

Fulcrum3D develops and manufactures remote sensing equipment and software for solar and wind energy, including its CloudCAM cloud‑forecasting technology. The company’s product range includes wind monitoring using a compact‑beam Sodar and solar resource and weather monitoring systems. Fulcrum3D’s CloudCAM approach combines purpose-built camera hardware with specialised software to predict PV output from cloud characteristics and velocities. ARENA has provided funding to move the technology from development to pilot‑scale demonstration. The CloudCAM system will be trialled at the 1 MW Uterne solar PV plant in Alice Springs, which is being expanded by 3.1 MW. Fulcrum3D was established in 2011 by Fulcrum Energy and partner Orang‑utan Engineering.
