Buddy Platform provides a backend-as-a-service cloud platform that supplies app developers with hosted APIs and web services across major operating systems.
Mission
Buddy Platform offers developers a fully hosted, managed set of web services that handle the cloud-connected components of applications running on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, SmartTV, Facebook, HTML5, and Windows 8. Its APIs cover user accounts, friends and group management, messaging and chat, geo-location, photo albums, metadata, gaming features, push notifications, and crash reporting. The company has launched its platform together with new APIs powered by partner Aviary.com and is providing free usage for up to 2 million API calls per month through July 31, 2012 to spur adoption. Based in Kirkland, Washington, Buddy aims to deepen relationships with major brands and agencies that publish multi-platform apps. Seed capital will be directed toward expanding market adoption and strengthening these commercial partnerships. The management team is led by CEO David McLauchlan and CTO/Chief Architect Jeff MacDuff.
