About

Octopus Deploy provides an automated continuous deployment platform for enterprises, enabling teams to manage, orchestrate, and deploy applications across environments for organizations such as Microsoft, NASA, and Disney.

Mission

Octopus Deploy builds an automated enterprise software deployment (continuous deployment/CD) platform used by about 25,000 organizations, including Microsoft, NASA, Xero, Disney and Stack Overflow. The company began as a nights-and-weekend project by Paul Stovell in 2011; Stovell is CEO and his wife Sonia Stovell is CFO. Octopus grew as a bootstrapped, profitable business (profitable by 2012) and had declined venture approaches for years. It employs more than 100 people across Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom. The company announced its first outside investment today: Insight Partners took a minority stake for $172.5 million. Octopus plans to use the investment to expand its enterprise go-to-market and increase market share, especially in the United States.
