About

AMSL Aero builds Vertiia, an eight-motor tilting-wing eVTOL that VTOLs and cruises, using batteries and planned hydrogen power up to 1,000 km for regional passenger, cargo, and emergency services.

Mission

AMSL Aero is developing Vertiia, an eight-electric-motor tilting-wing eVTOL that takes off and lands vertically but flies efficiently like a plane. Vertiia is designed to run on hydrogen fuel cells for zero carbon emissions, with a battery range of 250 km and a planned hydrogen range of up to 1,000 km and a cruise speed of 300 km/h. Initial aircraft will be certified for piloted flight with autonomy systems planned for future remote-piloted applications, and the company targets commercial entry following certification in 2026. Target markets include air ambulance, emergency services, passenger and cargo transport, with a specific focus on connecting regional and remote communities. AMSL says long-term operating costs will be comparable with short-range domestic airliners while offering door-to-door service without runways. The company was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Bankstown, New South Wales, and is privately backed by investors including IP Group Australia, Telstra Super, Host Plus and St Baker Energy Innovation Fund.
