Mission

Li-S Energy is an Australian developer of high-energy-density lithium-sulfur battery technology designed to outperform conventional lithium-ion cells. The company targets applications such as electric vehicles and renewable-energy storage where lightweight, long-range batteries are critical. It intends to build a staged lithium-sulfur battery cell manufacturing facility capable of up to 1 GWh of annual production. A recently awarded A$7.8 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) will fund manufacturing optimisation, a detailed feasibility study and front-end engineering design for this plant. Following the grant announcement, Li-S Energy’s shares rose as much as 8.5 % to A$0.160, with year-to-date performance up 14.8 %. Trading volume spiked to about 821,000 shares, roughly 1.8 times the 30-day average. The non-dilutive funding bolsters the company’s balance sheet as it moves toward commercial-scale production.
