About
Nomad Atomics develops compact quantum sensors—field-ready absolute gravimeters and zero-drift accelerometers—miniaturized to a 20×20×30 cm enclosure for resource, energy, defense, space, CO2 monitoring, and navigation.
Mission
Nomad Atomics was founded by atomic physicists from the Australian National University and is commercializing compact quantum sensors — including field-ready absolute gravimeters and zero-drift accelerometers. Its co‑founders are Kyle Hardman (CEO), Paul Wigley and Christian Freier (CTO). The company says it has reduced size, weight and power so its survey-style absolute gravimeter fits in a 20x20x30 cm enclosure. Nomad targets industries such as resources, energy, defense and space and estimates gravity exploration is roughly a US$1 billion market within a US$50 billion-plus resource mapping and monitoring sector. The business expects double-digit growth in many end markets and plans to expand into CO2 sequestration monitoring and navigation applications. To scale a field-ready sensor fleet it plans to hire 20+ roles and build two new prototype sensors for airborne exploration and inertial navigation.
