About
Amphibian Aerospace Industries manufactures and develops Albatross family amphibious aircraft, holds FAA type certificates, and is certifying turboprop and hydrogen-electric variants for commercial, government, defense, and emergency use.
Mission
Amphibian Aerospace Industries (AAI) is the manufacturing and product development arm of the Australian‑owned Amphibian Aircraft group, focused on the Albatross family of amphibious aircraft and holding FAA type certificates for the HU‑16 and G‑111. Its core product is a hybrid amphibious aircraft capable of operating from water and runways, with variants planned for commercial, government, defence and emergency services. AAI plans a turboprop upgrade (PT6A‑67F Pratt & Whitney) to create the G‑111T, a 28‑seat FAA‑certified amphibian able to carry 4.5 tonnes of freight. The company also has a hydrogen fuel‑cell fully electric design on the drawing board. Using the recent $1M investment, AAI will open an office in Darwin, begin certification work on the modified aircraft, and encourage suppliers to relocate to build a local supply chain. Management expects modified aircraft certification within 18 months, production commencement in Darwin within four years, and full relocation in five to six years, with associated local job and economic benefits.
