About

Signostics develops and commercializes palm-sized handheld ultrasound and bladder-scanner devices for point-of-care medical and veterinary use, with regulatory approvals and global distribution from US and Australian operations.

Mission

Signostics develops ultra-portable, affordable handheld ultrasound systems and bladder scanners, including the SignosRT ultrasound system and the SignosRT Bladder. The company launched its first product in 2009 and released the patented SignosRT Bladder in 2014; it plans a new product release in 2016 and is initiating further advancements in ultrasound technology. Its existing portfolio has regulatory approvals in the U.S., Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada and Singapore, and the company exports to countries around the world. Signostics recently re-domiciled from Australia to become a Delaware corporation and established headquarters in Kirkland, Washington. Under new CEO Kevin Goodwin, the company intends to scale development, commercialization, and global marketing and distribution of new devices. The business aims to deliver a growing suite of practical devices to broaden point-of-care ultrasound adoption. Signostics develops Signos, a palm-sized handheld ultrasound device intended for point-of-care use by medical practitioners and veterinarians. Signos is designed for quick applications such as bladder exams, foreign body assessments, fluid localization, pregnancy evaluations and screening for abdominal aortic aneurysms. The company launched its first product into the veterinarian market in January 2009 and gained regulatory approvals to enter the human medical device market in the United States, Europe and Australia in May 2009. Established in Adelaide, Australia in 2005, Signostics also operates offices in Palo Alto, California and is U.S. and Australia-based. The company has raised $5M in an oversubscribed financing round and $19M in total to date. The additional capital will be used to expand in key target segments. Signostics Medical makes affordable, compact, palm-sized portable ultrasound devices and has won FDA approval. The half‑pound device is designed to be carried in pockets or worn like a stethoscope and uses tiny chips from Analog Devices to deliver high image clarity. It provides clear images for bladder, abdominal and intestinal screenings and can be used for obstetric imaging to view babies and their positions. Signostics positions the product for emergency rooms, pediatric facilities, rural and developing clinics, and sports medicine practices. The device will retail for $4,000 in the U.S., versus regular ultrasound machines that can cost upwards of $150,000, and the company says it could expand the already $3 billion annual ultrasound market. Signostics has not released a commercialization timeline and has funded development with angel investors, Playford Capital and Australian government grants; it is about to close a $4 million financing that would bring total raised to $12 million.
