About

xLabs is a Melbourne-based company that develops eye-tracking technology for human-computer interaction and gaze-based applications.

Mission

xLabs develops what it describes as a 'world-first' eye-tracking technology and is based in Melbourne. The company will receive more than $350,000 from the Australian government's Entrepreneurs' Programme to support commercialisation and development of its technology. That Entrepreneurs' Programme round allocates $8.5 million across 10 companies, with individual grants ranging from $250,000 to $1 million. Co-founder and CEO Joe Hanna says the grant ensures the tech can remain in Australia. Hanna added that without this government support the company would have struggled to survive domestically and might have relocated to the US or Singapore to raise capital. The funding is provided as a government commercialisation grant.
