About
Agerris develops field robotics and AI-based autonomous ground vehicles (Swagbot) and low-cost Digital Farmhand platforms using sensors and automation for weed control, pasture and herd monitoring, and crop management.
Mission
Agerris is an Australian field robotics and AI startup founded this year by University of Sydney Professor of Robotics and Intelligent Systems Salah Sukkarieh, based on technology from the Australian Centre for Field Robotics. The company has commercialized two platforms originally developed at the Centre: Swagbot, an autonomous ground vehicle using onboard AI to identify and eradicate weeds, monitor pasture and herd livestock; and Digital Farmhand, a low-cost autonomous platform aimed at smallholder row and tree crop farmers. Swagbot operates autonomously to manage weed levels, monitor pasture quality and herd livestock, and will soon be able to monitor the welfare of grazing animals and be purpose-fit for large-scale row and tree cropping. Digital Farmhand is being developed to help smallholder farmers better manage yields and crop health, including in developing nations. Agerris says its platforms leverage sensor technology and farming automation to increase productivity while enhancing animal welfare and environmental sustainability. The company announced A$6.5 million (US$4.64 million) in funding to commercialize its automated farm equipment and support farmers across Australia.
