JDoodle began as a side project by software developer Gokul Chandrasekaran and grew organically to 800,000 users while bootstrapped. The product provides zero-setup IDEs and browser-based runtimes for more than 76 languages, aimed at students, educators and professional developers. JDoodle counts about 3,000 educational institutions among its users and is embedded in customers’ courses and recruitment workflows via plugins and APIs. The company monetizes with a freemium SaaS subscription model, earning most revenue from API and plugin solutions with standard and custom plans. JDoodle plans additional revenue streams including premium IDEs, hosting, courses, assignments and a talent marketplace. The startup aims to scale to 8 million users within 24 months and will use new funding for marketing, product development and hiring in Australia.
