About

Luceo Energy builds a platform and low-voltage hosting-capacity estimator that ingests network infrastructure, smart meters, NBN hubs and DER telemetry to provide DNSPs dynamic LV visibility and capacity assessments.

Mission

Luceo Energy is developing a proof-of-concept data platform and a network hosting capacity estimator to integrate heterogeneous low-voltage data from networks, project partners and third parties. The platform will ingest network infrastructure data, network-connected devices such as NBN hubs, smart meter data and smart DER data including batteries and inverters. The work addresses a visibility gap that prevents distribution network service providers (DNSPs) from accessing reliable, real-time non-network-owned low-voltage data compatible with network management systems. The project aims to help DNSPs better assess and dynamically manage DER hosting capacity at low-voltage levels, reducing reliance on conservative static limits. The initiative will be trialled in Queensland and New South Wales with partner organisations to validate the approach. Financially, ARENA (on behalf of the Australian Government) has provided a $2.6 million grant toward the $5.7 million SHIELD project to develop and test the proof of concept.
