About
3DM Surface Finishing develops and deploys a patented electro-ablation finishing process for metal additive-manufactured parts, delivering high-speed, fine surface finishes across titanium, aluminium, Inconel, stainless steel and other alloys.
Mission
3DM Surface Finishing has developed and patented an electro-ablation process described as the next step in electro-polishing that produces high-speed, fine finishes for 3D metal-printed parts. The technology works with a broad range of alloys, including titanium, niobium, aluminium, Inconel, nickel alloys, stainless steel and copper. The company says electro-ablation is ten times faster and costs one-tenth of current finishing methods. 3DM was intentionally low profile while completing patent work and preparing the technology for industry introduction. Melbourne Angels made an initial investment in 2019 and has now completed a second-round follow-on investment. CEO and founder Dean Klower says a small number of manufacturers are already eager to adopt the technology.
