About
Hall is an enterprise real-time communications platform offering native iOS and Mac apps, short-form group and cross-company messaging, and admin user/permissions controls.
Mission
Hall provides an enterprise social networking platform that enables real-time, short-form messaging across companies and devices. It operates a freemium model with a basic free version and paid tiers—Business Plan at $5 per user per month and an Enterprise Plan at $15 per user per month. Founded in 2010, Hall is in beta but has launched iOS and Android apps and serves over 20,000 businesses and about 100,000 users. The company reports users engage for at least three hours a day, and a Signia Venture Partners investor said switching to Hall cut his email volume by at least 50 percent. Hall recently raised $5.5M in a Series A (bringing total funding to about $6.4M) and says the proceeds will be used to grow its six-person team and accelerate mobile development. Notable customers include Capital One, Razorfish, Sapient and Oracle; competitors cited include Yammer, Jive, Chatter, Batterii and NationalField. Hall offers a real-time communications platform for businesses with native apps for iOS and Mac, positioning itself as the next wave after the social intranet. The product supports group chat and cross-company communication and was rebuilt from Adobe AIR to native apps to improve performance. The company pivoted from an earlier real-time decision-making product to focus on communications after retention issues, and plans to enhance one-on-one messaging with video chat and file sharing. Hall reports traction with over 10,000 businesses signed up and 50,000 end users spending more than three hours per day in the product. Company retention is now in the double digits and Hall grew 50% in January. While Hall isn’t disclosing revenue yet, it has a monetization plan that enables paying customers to assign administrators to manage users and permissions, and the near-term focus is on product polish, speed and engagement.
