About

Emesent provides Hovermap, a plug-and-play DJI add-on combining lidar and onboard SLAM for autonomous mapping and analytics in underground and GPS-denied environments, with point-cloud reporting and software licensing.

Mission

Emesent’s core product, Hovermap, pairs a standard DJI drone with a lidar sensor and onboard computing that runs real-time SLAM for autonomous flight and mapping in underground and GPS-denied spaces. The company targets mining customers with a plug-and-play hardware/software stack and plans to commercialize its SLAM software separately for licensing and customization. Emesent is also building analytics and reporting on top of point-cloud data to deliver actionable reports rather than raw scans. The team emerged from Data61, the tech arm of CSIRO, and is led by CEO and co-founder Stefan Hrabar. Emesent is participating in DARPA’s Subterranean Challenge, which the company expects to complement its technical development. The company said it has enough funding for roughly 18 months of runway and is already generating revenue.
