About

GreenCollar develops and implements land- and community-based projects and market methodologies to generate and sell environmental credits across carbon, water quality, biodiversity, and plastics, and operates registries.

Mission

GreenCollar develops projects and market methodologies to generate high-integrity environmental credits across carbon, water quality, biodiversity and plastics. Founded in 2011 and based in Australia, the company works with landowners and managers to create commercial opportunities that value environmental outcomes. Since KKR's investment the business has expanded internationally and grown capabilities through acquisitions including Sigma Global, Devine Agribusiness Carbon and Go Neutral, and a partnership with AgriProve. GreenCollar has launched initiatives such as the Reef Credits Registry (a world-first water quality market), pilots for biodiversity credits, and registered Australia's first and the world's second project under Verra's plastics standard. International activity includes plastic recovery projects in West Africa and the Pacific, cookstove projects in Southern Africa, and early forest protection projects in South-East Asia. The company is positioning to scale environmental impact and commercial offerings with backing from institutional investors and strategic partners. GreenCollar is a natural resource project development and environmental markets platform that helps landholders implement projects that generate revenue while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It specializes in developing land-based carbon projects such as forest protection and large-scale land restoration and then facilitates the sale of resulting carbon credits to private and public organizations. The company has been fundamental to the development of Australia’s carbon market and has secured contracts to supply approximately 65 million Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) to the Emissions Reduction Fund, making it the largest player under the Scheme. GreenCollar is also pioneering a Reef Credit Scheme to create a market-based solution for projects that improve Great Barrier Reef water quality. Certified as a B Corporation, GreenCollar positions its commercial model to contribute toward UN Sustainable Development Goals including climate action, life on land and life below water. The company says it aims to grow into a global business and expand its offerings to new markets with support from strategic investors.
