About

Lyka Pet Food delivers fresh, vet-formulated dog meals directly to consumers through a subscription service.

Mission

Founded in 2018 by veterinarian Dr. Matthew Muir and co-founder Anna Podolsky, Sydney-based Lyka Pet Food produces human-grade, fresh dog meals that are tailored to each animal’s weight, breed, age and activity level. Menu options range from grass-fed beef and lamb to free-range chicken, goat, kangaroo and turkey, combined with vegetables and superfoods such as quinoa, spinach, kale and chia seeds. Sold exclusively online on a weekly subscription basis, the service costs about A$28–50 per week for a small dog. The company claims roughly A$200 million in annual recurring revenue and has invested A$16 million in a dedicated production facility in Dandenong, Victoria, alongside additional kitchens in Sydney. Lyka markets aggressively, gaining notoriety for a viral (and Netflix-banned) ad highlighting the benefits of fresh food on dog digestion. With significant venture backing, the startup continues to scale manufacturing capacity and broaden its direct-to-consumer reach across Australia.
