Renewable Metals

Renewable Metals allows outdated batteries to retain essential minerals, extending their useful life.

📍Welshpool, Victoria, Australia🚀Seed stage👥1-10 employees

Why Renewable Metals exists

Renewable Metals develops an alkaline leaching recycling process that removes the need to pre-process to black mass, avoids secondary sodium sulfate waste, and simplifies extraction. The process has achieved metal recovery rates greater than 95% at pilot scale, including for lithium, and is reported to deliver up to 30% cost reductions versus competitors. It can be applied across multiple battery chemistries, including LFP, making it suitable as market mixes shift. The company raised $8 million in seed funding to scale and commercialise the technology. Proceeds will be used to stand up a pilot plant in Perth and accelerate construction of a larger demonstration plant capable of recycling up to 1,500 tonnes per year, while expanding the team to build an Australian industry and global presence. Renewable Metals was founded by a team of metallurgists and won the inaugural Supercharge Australia Innovation Challenge Award.

What we're building
