Mission

Founded in 2019 by neurosurgeon Dr Michael Sughrue and data scientist Dr Stephane Doyen, Omniscient Neurotechnology (o8t) applies artificial intelligence to generate highly detailed, patient-specific brain maps from standard MRI scans. Its flagship platform, Quicktome, received U.S. FDA clearance in 2021 and is already deployed in major hospitals and research institutions worldwide. The technology supports the emerging field of connectomics, giving neurosurgeons a richer understanding of individual neural networks to improve surgical precision and reduce complications. Omniscient employs 16 staff in Australia and plans to add 40+ roles across AI, neuroscience and product development. The company’s five-year roadmap includes establishing a connectomics centre of excellence in Sydney and expanding its commercial footprint in the United States. Financially, Omniscient closed one of Australia’s largest health-tech rounds in 2024 with an US$60 million (A$89 million) Series C and is now targeting an A$36 million Series D. Capital from the new round will be used to further commercialise Quicktome, grow the data-science team and build next-generation clinical applications.
