Flaim Systems builds an immersive virtual firefighting training system that pairs a VR headset with haptic technology, including a simulated hose and a thermal vest that reproduces directional heat. The product is designed to replicate the stress and uncertainty of real incidents to better prepare firefighters. The company was founded out of Deakin University in 2019 and is led by CEO Simon Miller. Flaim has achieved sales to over 300 emergency services agencies, defence, training organisations and private enterprises. It is focused on scaling opportunities in Australia, the USA and the UK. The company plans further technology development and operational expansion supported by its recent fundraise, with job creation already underway and a target to create 25 new high-value jobs by 2026.
