Mission

Millibeam develops fabless mmWave 5G/6G chipsets intended to dramatically reduce total cost of ownership of mmWave networks, improve energy efficiency, and extend radio‑link range. Its chip designs target the high‑bandwidth millimeter‑wave spectrum to enable very high‑speed, high‑throughput wireless connectivity. The company was founded in Sydney in 2021 and previously received a $2.1M federal grant under the Supply Chain Resilience Initiative and a $750,000 seed round in April 2022. Millibeam will more than treble its Melbourne engineering team of four by hiring an additional four specialised systems engineers and five technicians within the year. As a fabless manufacturer it outsources wafer fabrication but plans to build semiconductor packaging capability in Victoria and pursue a research partnership with a Victorian university. The product roadmap positions the startup to support commercial mmWave 5G chipset packaging and broader deployment of long‑range, energy‑efficient radio‑frequency chips.
