Mission

Pavement Testing Services provides specialist engineering services to help the Highways Agency and local councils assess road-network condition and plan maintenance programmes. The company has developed capacity to carry out a wide range of analytical tests on tarmac and other road materials and is pursuing recognition as a certification body. Established in 2002 by managing director Tony Sewell, PTS is based in Chorley and operates a laboratory in Adlington, a depot in Cramlington and a recently acquired laboratory in Swansea. The company employs 65 people and plans to create at least 20 more jobs in Lancashire. Recent expansion and the Swansea acquisition form part of its strategy to broaden testing and move toward certification status.
