About

HAMR Energy develops low-carbon methanol and sustainable aviation fuel projects in Australia for the aviation and maritime sectors.

Mission

HAMR Energy is an Australian clean-energy developer focused on producing low-carbon liquid fuels for hard-to-abate industries such as aviation and shipping. The company converts plantation forestry residues into low-carbon methanol that can be used directly in the maritime sector or upgraded into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Its flagship Portland Renewable Fuels project in Victoria targets annual output of 300,000 tonnes of low-carbon methanol, supported by long-term feedstock agreements with partners like OneFortyOne. HAMR is also planning what it says will be Australia’s first large-scale methanol-to-jet facility capable of producing more than 135 million litres of SAF each year. Honeywell will supply UOP eFining™ technology to enable the methanol-to-SAF conversion. By integrating feedstock supply, processing, and offtake partnerships with airlines, HAMR aims to deliver some of the lowest-cost, lowest-carbon fuels on the market. The AUD 10 million Series A injection strengthens its balance sheet as it moves toward financing and construction of these projects.
