Mission

Anti Ordinary develops a patented 'beanie helmet' that combines a beanie-like fit with helmet-level protection for high-risk outdoor sports. Its technology uses a polycarbonate frame of more than 80 parts designed to 'shape shift' around head contours. The product is independently tested and the company cites certifications for snow-sport safety with claims of up to 32.4% safer than traditional helmets and up to 39.4% better than industry standards in drop tests. Founder Rob Joseph launched the first A1 product in August 2022 after five years of R&D; the refined A2 is thinner, lighter and produced record sales with one million page impressions in the first week and purchasers from 18 countries in 48 hours. Anti Ordinary sells direct via its website, runs fulfillment warehouses, and is exploring retail distribution after approaches from about 10 prospective stockists in Canada, the US, the UK and Poland. Financially, the company raised $650,000 in a seed round last year and says its latest capital raise—backed by a multi-family private office, Brisbane Angels and early backers—was structured to remove the need for further external capital; management aims for profitability within the next season and a half. The business is operating from Queensland and is targeting snow sports first with plans to expand quickly into cycling, skating and other action-sport categories, with an ambition to supply the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
