About
Bolt provides couriers and logistics operators with light electric vehicles on a subscription basis to improve delivery efficiency and earnings.
Mission
Bolt is a Sydney-based mobility company that supplies couriers and last-mile logistics operators with light electric vehicles (LEVs) such as e-bikes on a subscription basis. Through its “Light Electric Vehicles as a Service” model, riders can rent an e-bike for $39 per week on a flexible, week-to-week contract that includes full maintenance, servicing and customer support; outright purchase options are also available. The company claims couriers using its vehicles can boost their earnings by up to 30% because they are able to complete more deliveries per shift. Bolt has launched operations in San Francisco and London and is collaborating with partners like Postmates, which has piloted a Bolt rental program since June. Founded in 2017 by former Deliveroo executive Mina Nada and ex-Bain consultant Michael Johnson, the startup currently employs about 20 people. Management plans to grow its fleet ten-fold over the next year and expand into additional cities across the U.S., U.K. and Australia. The rapid growth of the on-demand food delivery market, projected by Technavio to reach $57.6 billion by 2021, supports Bolt’s expansion ambitions.
