About
Inkl is an ad-free news aggregator offering a lightly personalized web feed with publisher-branded, sectioned content, user-controlled publisher selection per section, and planned native mobile apps.
Mission
Inkl is building an ad-free, aggregated news service that charges users 10c per article or a $15 monthly unlimited plan. The company launched a web app and plans native apps due to launch in late January. Founded last January, Inkl has signed seven publishers including The Guardian (U.S., U.K., and Australian editions), The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, LiveMint, and South China Morning Post. Its product delivers a lightly personalized, ad-free feed with publisher logos and sectioned content where users can choose which publishers appear in certain sections. Inkl has been bootstrapping development and took a $250,000 seed round this fall led by North Base Media; it does not disclose its revenue-split terms with publishers or how many paying customers it has. The company is offering a free 30-day trial to try to convert mobile news readers to paid users.
