About

Element Zero operates a low-temperature, non‑aqueous electrochemical platform using intermittent renewable energy to convert the full spectrum of iron, nickel and other ores, including low‑grade, into high‑purity zero‑carbon metals.

Mission

Element Zero develops a low‑temperature, non‑aqueous electrochemical processing platform that uses intermittent renewable energy to convert iron ore, nickel, and other metals into pure, zero‑carbon metals. The platform can process the full spectrum of iron ores, including lower‑grade ores that other low‑carbon technologies cannot handle. Its current prototype produces 100 kg of zero‑carbon iron per day and the team has completed detailed engineering for a one metric ton per day unit while optimizing the 100 kg/day prototype with feed from major ore producers. The company aims to scale to a pilot iron plant and expects the next scale‑up to be completed and commissioned by the end of 2024. Element Zero plans to use its technology to develop projects processing five million tonnes per year of iron ore feed, producing roughly 2.7 million tonnes of high‑purity iron. The US$10M seed funding will be used to grow R&D, engineering, and project development teams and to scale the pilot; the company is headquartered in Perth and targeting projects in the north of Western Australia.
