About

Venuemob is an online marketplace that lets users search, compare and book bars, restaurants and event venues while enabling venue owners to list, promote and manage bookings.

Mission

Venuemob operates a two-way online platform that allows users to search and filter an extensive database of event, function and meeting venues and secure promotional offerings and discounts. Profiled venues can promote their offerings directly to Venuemob’s user base. The company says it will use the new funding to fuel growth in the corporate events sector and to make platform improvements. Venuemob announced a $530,000 follow-on angel investment from Sydney Angels and the Sydney Angels Sidecar Fund, with further backing from Optus. It previously raised $450,000 in 2012 led by Optus Innov8. The additional capital is intended to support expansion and product development in its target market. Venuemob is a Melbourne-based provider of information and booking access to a hand-picked selection of bars, restaurants, reception centres and function rooms. Co-founded by David Wei, Ying Wang, and James Giang, the company offers an event-planning guide that allows users to find, compare and book venues while enabling venue owners to market their businesses and generate additional bookings. The company raised A$450K in funding in a round led by SingTel Innov8 as part of the Optus-Innov8 Seed Program. Venuemob intends to use the capital to expand beyond Melbourne into Sydney and other major Australian cities. The article also notes the company is hiring.
