Leading Edge Data Centres specialises in edge data centres that locally host applications to enable faster compute, reduce network latency, and offload existing backhaul networks. The company plans to build 20 world-class Tier 3 data centres across regional Australia, beginning with Newcastle and Tamworth in New South Wales. It will roll out 75-Rack Edge Hubs across NSW, with Newcastle and Tamworth sites expected to be ready towards the end of the year and Albury, Wagga Wagga, Parkes, Dubbo, and Coffs Harbour to be live by May 2021. Leading Edge is acquiring necessary real estate across NSW and other states to deliver a connected national data centre platform. The company secured a $20 million investment from ASX-listed Washington H. Soul Pattinson via the SparkLabs Cultiv8 2020 accelerator group to fund these plans. Leadership said the backing affirms their mission to improve connectivity and deliver denser network connectivity and seamless digital experiences for regional and remote customers.
